Bellville the county seat of Austin County about an hour away from Houston, Texas. One local hotspot includes Newman’s Castle, a medieval structure just outside of Bellville. Step in the castle by walking over a 3,000 pound, hand operated drawbridge and you can even book events inside in its dining hall.
Each week Bellville residents stop by the famous Bellville Meat Market, which started in 1981. Here people can sample their award-winning pecan smoked barbecue and buy fresh spices and meat that they can’t find anywhere else. The Farm to Market Produce Company’s has fresh, local produce that’s seasonal to Texas. But they have more than just produce, it’s a one-stop shop for pies, healthy food options, and grab and go meals.
Last but not least, if you’re looking for atmosphere and a place to unwind, take a short trip out Highway 36 north and visit The Kenney Store. The Kenney Store has been featured on The Texas Bucket List, Texas Monthly and most recently in a CNN article about must visit places in Texas.
